I saw this Brown Thrasher fledgling in the road and I scared it over to the side so it would not get hit. It was not able to fly yet. I bet the mom/dad was teaching the bird to hunt and forage. I got my camera and took some shots of the bird. As I was shooting, the parent was making various alarmed bird calls. I backed off. I am very happy to see that there has been a major increase in thrashers. I see a lot each day.

Brown Thrasher Fledgling
I saw this Brown Thrasher fledgling in the road and I scared it over to the side so it would not get hit. It was not able to fly yet. I bet the mom/dad was teaching the bird to hunt and forage. I got my camera and took some shots of the bird. As I was shooting, the parent was making various alarmed bird calls. I backed off. Cute photos of the bird but I feel bad for it. if it can't fly yet and is on the ground. Or do they have their nests on the ground?? At least the parent was around to watch it.

Their parents sometimes come to Ohio as I got a photo of them a couple of years ago. I think they are on my Pick a Peck of Pixels blog in the right sidebar.
